# clsPolicyAssociation

`clsPolicyAssociation` is an immutable value object describing one policy-to-policy association
(type, parent/child, related policy identity, status, period). It implements
`SAIF.Business.Policy.IPolicyHeaderAssociation` (an internal project-reference contract) and is
produced by `clsPolicyHeaderAssociationFactory`.

## Purpose
- Represents one immutable policy-to-policy association record (type, parent/child role, related policy, status, period).
- Implements `SAIF.Business.Policy.IPolicyHeaderAssociation` for consumption by policyholder parent-affiliation authorization checks ([BR-VP-006](../../business-rules.md#br-vp-006-policyholder-ownership-affiliation-match-required)).

## Context
- Namespace: `SAIF.Business.View.Policy`
- Assembly/package: `SAIF.Business.View.Policy` (embedded library reference)

## Public members
| Member | Signature | Purpose |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `AssociationType` | `ReadOnly Property AssociationType As IPolicyAssociationType` | The association type (e.g. manual affiliation, experience combination) of this association. |
| `RelatedPolicyNum` | `ReadOnly Property RelatedPolicyNum As Decimal` | The policy number this association points to. |
| `IsParent` | `ReadOnly Property IsParent As Boolean` | Whether this association represents a parent relationship (used by policyholder access checks). |
| `Status` | `ReadOnly Property Status As String` | Status of the related policy in this association. |

## Behavioral notes
- This is a plain class, not a `clsBusinessBase` derivative, and has no inherited members section — it is constructed as an immutable value object by `clsPolicyHeaderAssociationFactory`, not retrieved directly.

## Constraints and usage notes
- Consumers should treat instances as immutable once constructed.
